Why am I passionate about this?

I’ve experienced vivid dreams ever since I was a child, which led me to begin reading about the metaphysical universe at an early age, obsessed with anything and everything “unknown.” It is truly fascinating how various themes like paranormal activity, magic, the afterlife, reincarnation, and spiritual beliefs can all tie into one another. Yet, there aren’t many books that intertwine all the subjects into one. I truly believe that although every topic is vastly unique in certain aspects, they share similarities and can all be connected. I am a multi-genre author, however writing in this area is my passion.

The books I picked & why

Book cover of Mystic Tea

Stevie D. Parker Why did I love this book?

In exploring the magic around us, we can see the effects of the good, bad, and curses. The danger of using magic for love spells is that it can backfire. I believe there are people who can reunite with us for many lifetimes, and there are multiple reincarnations of ourselves.

I am not a crier, but I came close in this one. The ending was not what I wanted and was completely unexpected, but that’s the type of book that will keep you thinking about them for a while afterward. I personally love books that have that effect on the reader!

What is this book about?

A community of quirky, mismatched, and endearing women struggle to find meaning and purpose on a ramshackle monastery in upstate New York. Having spent their lives in service to a church that seems to no longer serve them, they are confused about their own futures and the future of the entire monastery. Led by Mike, the practical no-nonsense prioress, and Augusta, the grand ancient mystic hermit, they are joined by Gemma, a self-punishing novice, and Arielle, a firebrand jailhouse conversion who was sent there out of rehab by a “sort of angel.” The personalities, commitments, philosophies and beliefs of these…

Book cover of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

Stevie D. Parker Why did I love this book?

I typically enjoy books with well-defined characters and distinctive voices that I relate to. Rea Nolan Martin brilliantly uses a writing technique that is sometimes difficult to pull off. I loved that the story is told from the viewpoint of each character. I was particularly drawn to the interplay between the main character, Maya, and the voice in her head of her alleged “twin,” Maya.

This book had me thinking about the mysteries of life. There are not enough books with a "moral to the story."  This one has a number, but you may need to read it closely to catch them all.

What is this book about?

"For someone damned to be forgettable, Addie LaRue is a most delightfully unforgettable character, and her story is the most joyous evocation of unlikely immortality." -Neil Gaiman

A Sunday Times-bestselling, award-nominated genre-defying tour-de-force of Faustian bargains, for fans of The Time Traveler's Wife and Life After Life, and The Sudden Appearance of Hope.

Stevie D. Parker Why did I love this book?

K.F. Breene has a knack for writing great characters. One thing I like most in fictional reads is witty banter, and there is a lot of snark in this book, especially from the female lead, Jesse. I loved that she was older (as the title suggests) and strong-willed.

This is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud read that I stayed up way too late to finish. It’s a fun series to binge, exploring magic and shapeshifters.

What is this book about?

"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of twenty years packs up and heads for greener pastures and my son leaves for college, that's exactly what my life becomes.

Do-over.

This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at forty I'm ready to carve my own path.

Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills. I'll be taking care of a centuries old house that called to me when I…

Book cover of Between Life and Death: Conversations with a Spirit

Stevie D. Parker Why did I love this book?

The information in this book is in a whole new realm, literally! I have never read anything quite like this, and it was fascinating to delve into the human brain under the trance that Dolores Cannon was able to induce. The level of detail in each subject was described in the afterlife, soul contracts, and heaven was mind-blowing.

This was a book I could not put down. I turned the pages to hear what the next person had to say. It was one of the most interesting books I have ever read.

A well-written book that is a curious reminder that our in-between life with all its information lies within our subconscious.

While retrieving past-life experiences, hundreds of subjects reported the same memories when experiencing their death, the spirit realm, and their rebirth.
